Mrs. Gula Mendenhall Died Friday--Age 85

Mrs. Gula E. Mendenhall, 85, who had been bedfast for a week suffering from bronchial asthma, died at her home early Friday night of a heart attack.

Mrs. Mendenhall was born at Arno, Ind., May 9, 1854 and was one of a family of four children. She was married Oct. 9, 1874 to J. H. Mendenhall at Danville, Ind., coming to Jasper county with her husband in 1876 and settling near Lynnville. She and a daughter, Marie made their home together following the death of her husband October 16, 1928.

She was the oldest woman attending Lynnville's Old Settlers celebration last August. She was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union and an active member of the Lynnville Friends church.

Surviving relatives are two daughters, Marie Mendenhall of Lynnville, and Mrs. Iva Linaberry of Arnolds Park, Ia., a brother, E. B. Hodson of California; a sister and a brother, Mrs. Jennie Harvey and E. C. Hodson of Kansas; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
