On February 2, 1947, she was united in marriage with Billy Eugene Sparks at Kansas City, Kansas and to this union five children were born: Raymond Eugene, Diana Lynn, Shelia Kay, Donna Jo and Jerry Lee. Following their marriage Evelyn and Billy lived in Oskaloosa and Pella, Iowa until moving to Monroe, Iowa in 1967. Evelyn continued working at Maytag Company until becoming a United Auto Workers retiree in 1990. In June of 1984 she and Raymond Earl Simbro began traveling their lives together. They would spend the winters in Texas while making their residence below the Red Rock Dam near Pella. Evelyn and Ray found much enjoyment traveling in his motorhome. But then Ray passed away on March 25, 1996, at the age of 71 years. Evelyn continued managing the recreational park in Texas where she met Bill Cremeen. They were united in marriage on September 8, 2002, and they enjoyed wildlife, fishing and traveling. Bill then became Evelyn's caregiver and remained very devoted and dedicated. In May of 2009, Evelyn became hospitalized and passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 4 days.
