MONROE — Jerry W. Thomasson, 63, of Monroe died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Coburn Funeral Home of Monroe with burial following at Silent City Cemetery of Monroe. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The son of Earl “Sam” and LaBertha (DeLeeuw) Thomasson, Jerry was born on May 2, 1946 in Newton. Jerry worked for Cargill for eleven years and for Vermeer Manufacturing for twenty-nine years. When not at work, he enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Jerry also enjoyed a competitive game of bowling or horseshoes.
Those left to honor his memory are his brother, Melvin Thomasson of Monroe; sister, Judy Hawkins and her husband Jack of Monroe; and one niece, Cindy Hawkins of Monroe. Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and an infant brother.
