A Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes B. “Bernie” Nolin, 85, of Newton will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. A visitation with the family will be from 5:30 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the church, with a wake and prayer service at 7 p.m. The Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Bernie’s name are being designated.
Agnes Bernadine “Bernie” Nolin, 85, the daughter of Forrest and Sarah (Murphy) Warner, was born Jan. 27, 1924, in Newton. She was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, class of 1942. She had lived in Newton, and wintered in Pine Island, Fla., Fort Myers Fla., and St. James, Fla.
On Sept. 6, 1942, Bernie was united in marriage with Dale I. Nolin in Newton.
She was employed by the Jasper County Bank as a switchboard operator and receptionist for 21 years, retiring in 1982. She had devoted her life to her family and friends and enjoyed helping with Telecare for Skiff Medical Center.
Bernie died on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 6, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her biological mother, Helen Call; and her husband, Dale on March 14, 1997.
Those left to honor Bernie’s memory include her daughter, Judy Dale Nolin of Miami, Fla.; her son, Forrest I. Nolin of Los Angeles, Calif.; her grandson, Eric Schrader; her great-grandchildren, Matthew Dale and Lucas; her brother, Robert D. (Barb) Call; many nieces and nephews; and her many good friends.
