Dorothy June Gideon, 92, died July 24, 2009, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Dorothy June Lockman was born west of Moravia on June 1, 1917, to J.C. and Anna Lockman. She was united in marriage on May 23, 1937, to Roger Walter Gideon in Coatsville, Mo. They just celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in May. Dorothy graduated in 1937 from Moravia High School then became a homemaker and mother of four children.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Gideon; three daughters, JoAnne Sanders of Gilman, Janice (Ray) Hartgrave of Belle Plaine and Jeraldine (Bill) Nace of Newton; one son, Jody (Janet) of Newton; one brother, Donald (Ruth) Lockman of California; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents J.C. (Anna) Lockman and by two brothers, Max and Troy.
Per Dorothy’s wishes, her body has been cremated. Memorial services are pending.
