COLFAX — Larry Dean Shuey, 71, of Colfax died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Mercy Hospice of Johnston. Memorial services for Larry will be on Friday, July 31, at 11 a.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church of Colfax with a luncheon following. There will be no visitation.

The son of Harold L. and Dorothy M. (Myers) Shuey, Larry was born on July 15, 1938 at Nevada, Iowa. On April 10, 1959, Larry was united in marriage with Gertrude (Ann) Jones at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Larry worked at Armstrong Tire in Des Moines, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed working on tractors and cars, fishing, sprint car racing and farming.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife Ann Shuey of Colfax; children, Brad Shuey of Colfax; Michelle Shuey of Colfax; and Staci (Roger) Shortt of Winterset; two grandchildren, Eric and Evan; a sister, Dolores (Mickey) Norman of Decatur City, Iowa and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding Larry in death were his parents, a brother, Glen and a sister, Mary.
