WEBSTER CITY — Wendell A. Holmes, 45, of Webster City, formerly of Newton, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at the Israel Family Hospice House at Ames.
A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Foster Chapel, with Chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek officiating.
Wendell Allen Holmes, son of Ray and June Woodruff Holmes, was born Feb. 5, 1964, in Boone. He received his education in the Boone Public Schools graduating in 1983.
He had managed a carwash in Newton for several years and was the apartment manager for Easy Keep in Newton. He had retired because of failing health.
Wendell is survived by his mother, June Holmes of Cambridge; sisters, Melody Young of Webster City, Helen Shearer of Casey, Rosella Holmes of Odgen and Lou Anderson of Boone; brothers, Tom Holmes of Webster City, Paul Holmes of Texas, Husie Holmes of Cambridge, Donny Holmes of Boone, Ernie Holmes of Hudson and William Holmes of Webster City; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Wendell was preceded in death by his father and sister, Lila Holmes Silva.
