M. Jeannette Campbell, 91, died on Monday, July 13, 2009, at her home at Park Centre in Newton.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
Memorials to the United Presbyterian Church of Newton may be left at the funeral home.
Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton is in charge of arrangements.
The daughter of Stanley Prince and Alice Louise (Austin) Farwell, Jeannette was born on Dec. 9, 1917, in Chicago, Ill. She was united in marriage to Tim J. Campbell, Jr. on June 21, 1941, in Winnetka, Ill.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill., in 1939. She was a homemaker.
Jeannette was a member of the following, United Presbyterian Church, where she held many offices and positions; Chapter HS PEO; Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity; Mortar Board; Monmouth College Alumni Association; Jasper County Republican Women; Central College Parents’ Association; Town and Country Mother’s Club; Newton PTA; and the Skiff Hospital Auxiliary. She also served as past president and secretary of the Des Moines Presbyterial from 1981 to 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Timothy J. Campbell III and Richard (Ruth) Campbell, all of Newton; seven daughters, Nancy (John) Haynor of Glencoe, Ill., Beth (Hal) Kooistra of Austin, Texas, Alice DeJong of Eden Prairie, Minn., Gail (Tom) Gaetz of Duluth, Minn., Wendy Nesmith of Austin, Texas, Lynne (Joe) Krizek of North Pole, Ark., and Kristen (Scott) Stanton of Newton; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; one sister, Nancy (Craig) Leman of Corvallis, Ore.; and one brother, Richard W. Farwell of Northbrook, Ill.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Timothy J. Campbell, Jr. in 2004; and a sister-in-law, Helen Farwell.
