Kingma, Eugene ‘Bud’ E. – 1937-2009

Graveside services for Eugene “Bud” E. Kingma, 71, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton, Iowa, with a memorial service held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Newton.
Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bud’s name are being designated to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The son of Dutch Kingma and Evelyn Mae (Durr) Kingma, Bud was born July 31, 1937, in Newton. A longtime resident of the Newton area, he graduated from the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1955. He went on to attend the University of Iowa in Iowa City for several years. Bud served his country with the US Army from 1960 until 1962. He had traveled the world over and had lived in Chicago, Ill., New York City, N.Y., San Francisco, Calif., and Mill Valley, Calif., and Murrieta, Calif.
Bud devoted his life to his family and friends and was of the Lutheran faith. He was employed by Delta Airlines for 30 plus years, retiring as a ticket agent in 1992.
Bud died Tuesday morning, June 30, 2009, at the Vista Hospital of Riverside in Perris, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to honor Bud’s memory include his sisters, Phyllis Kimler of Newton and Colleen McLeod of Escondido, Calif.; his niece, Lisa McLeod, and nephew, James Kimler; his good friend, William T. Mendez in Murrieta, Calif.; and his many other good friends. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.pencefh.com.
