Funeral services for Kenneth Paul Winegar, 84, 1426 1st Ave. E. Apt. 2A will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. William Calhoun, pastor of the Newton First Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Westgate.
Wallace-Pence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Winegar died Sunday at Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton.
Memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Zelma Mildred; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Ray and Betty Crabtree of Hermitage, Mo.; two daughters, Gay Annette (Mrs. Jerry) Briski of Greenwood, Wis., and Kristin Elaine (Mrs. Donald) Gardner of St. Paul, Minn.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Colleen Brayton of Des Moines and Karen L. (Mrs. Stewart) Hanks of Brainerd, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth Bray of Fort Dodge and Annette Christensen of Denmark, Europe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Schwab.
Mr. Winegar was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Newton American Legion Post 111, Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655, and the Newton Masonic Lodge 59 AF and AM.
A member of the Army Air Corps, he served in the European Theater during World War II.
He was employed at the Newton Coast to Coast Store, worked in the Maytag Home Appliance Sales and Service, was employed by a Stand Oil Station in Des Moines and was a farmer and dairy worker.
The son of Door Everette and Annette Rose Grunig Winegar, he was born Sept. 28, 1911 at Westgate.
Mr. Winegar was a graduate of Oelwein High School.
He had resided in California, Westgate, and Des Moines before coming to Newton 28 years ago.
He was married to Roberta Chaplain Feb. 14, 1947 and to Zelma Mildred Garrett Crabtree Dec. 15, 1961 in Des Moines.
