Christopher A. Dannels, 37, of Newton died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The Rev. Lauris Meek will officiate. The family will greet friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association may be left at the funeral home.
The son of Jerry and Cindy (Beauchamp) Dannels, Chris was born on April 26, 1972, in Newton where he was a lifelong resident. A 1990 graduate of Newton Senior High School, Chris was a material handler for Tones in Ankeny.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Cindy Dannels of Newton; his brother, Brett (Dawn) Dannels of Pleasant Hill; a nephew, Cameron Dannels of Pleasant Hill; his paternal grandparents, Donald and Esther Dannels of Newton; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eldon and Ruth Beauchamp.
