MONROE – Earl Raymond Simbro, 82, a longtime resident of the Monroe area and Jasper County died today, Aug. 29, at Embassy Manor in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe.
Elder Arthur Nichols will conduct services. Burial will be in Dunreath Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 30.
Survivors are his wife, Bessie; two sons, Clifford of Newton and Bernard of Reasnor; a daughter, Coral Lee Marshall of Monroe; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
The son of James and Mae McDaniel Simbro, he was born Feb. 5, 1902 near Percy in Marion County.
He was married to Bessie Wagner Oct. 22, 1928 in Runnells.
Mr. Simbro was a longtime employee of Marion County and later worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation from which he retired.
