Mrs. Sarah Shissler Dies at Age of 90 Years
Funeral Services Thursday Afternoon at Bumgardner Chapel at 2:30 p.m.
Mrs. Sarah Shissler, 90, died Tuesday morning in Newton at a nursing home where she has resided for a number of years. She had been in failing health for the past year being bedfast a greater part of the time. However, she became suddenly worse Sunday and sank rapidly until the end came Tuesday morning.Sarah, the daughter of pioneer residents Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Poulson, was born April 28th, 1857 in Colfax, Iowa, and was a resident of Jasper county her entire lifetime. At the age of twenty five years she was united in marriage to Mr. John Shissler, who preceded her in death several years ago. She was the mother of two children, both of whom died in early childhood.She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Peter (Ella) DeReus of Valeria, a brother George Poulson of Cedar Falls, nieces Mrs. Wm. Thomas and Mrs. H. C. Emery of Colfax and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at the Bumgardner Funeral Chapel in Colfax at 2:30, with the Rev. Paul K. Potter of the Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at McKeever cemetery north of Colfax.
