Wyatt, Hester – 1930-2009

Hester Elizabeth Wyatt, the daughter of Merlyn George and Alice Parks Guessford, was born November 13, 1930 at her family home in Newton. She graduated from Kellogg Senior High School with the class of 1950.
On Sept. 9, 1956 Hester was united in marriage with Gearold Eugene Wyatt in Kellogg. She had worked as a teller at the Kellogg-Sully Savings Bank and as a welder for Smith-Jones Manufacturing, Inc. in Kellogg. Hester was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship, Willowbrook, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed embroidery, knitting and other craftwork, baking cakes, working jig-saw puzzles, and playing Skip-Bo and Tri-Ominos.
Hester died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center. She was 78 years old. Hester was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gearold on Aug. 25, 1975; one granddaughter, Heather; and one sister, Earlene.
Those left to honor Hester’s memory include her daughters, Pat (Mark Shearer) Riemenschneider of Newton, Iowa and Jayne (Jim) Caster of Albion, Iowa; her sons, Gene (Bob Pompeo) Wyatt of Mills River, N.C. and Keith (Joyce) Wyatt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her six grandchildren; her six great grandchildren; her sisters, Goldia Neveln of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Florence McNichols of Winterset, Iowa, Pearl Guessford of Kellogg, Ida Eivins of Lorimor, and Merna Guessford of Cooper City, Fla; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Funeral services for Hester will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Friends of Hester may call at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home after 5 p.m. today, May 26. The family will greet friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in Hester’s name to Willowbrook or Hospice of Jasper County and may be left at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home.
