OSKALOOSA — Alice Elizabeth Marsh, 101, of Oskaloosa, formerly of Kellogg, died May 4, 2009, in Oskaloosa.
She was born in State Center to William C. and Orrie Belle Heintz. She was graduated from Collins High School in 1926 and married Curtis L. Marsh in 1927. Alice and Curt raised eight children.
Alice’s interests included athletics and music. For many years she was an official scorekeeper for high school sports and for semi-pro baseball. She was known as an expert on the rules.
Alice was a member of the Methodist Church serving as choir director and soloist. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Curtis, Jr., Fredrick and Lewis; son-in-law, Ray Weir; and grandson, Curtis A. Marsh.
She is survived by son James (Beverly) of Jewell; daughters, Jean Weir of Colo, Kathryn (Carmen) Maxwell of What Cheer, Judith (Bob) Dunshee of Indianapolis Ind., and Marilyn (Steve) Barger of Newtown Pa.; as well as 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on May 9 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.
