Betty J. Hurmence, 66, of Olathe, Kan., passed away Monday, April 20, 2009, at home. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, Kan. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Olathe Medical Center Hospice.
Mrs. Hurmence was born Oct. 19, 1942, in Newton, Iowa, to Jerry and Frances Foster. She was a homemaker for most of her life, dedicating her love to her family, especially her grandchildren. She always enjoyed cooking, sewing, music, gardening and gatherings with family and friends, her favorite being Christmas. Keith and Betty also enjoyed wintering in Texas together.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Foster, in 1993.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Keith A. Hurmence, of the home; one daughter, Darci Farmer, and husband, Greg, of Olathe, Kan.; one son, Todd Hurmence, and wife, Laura, of Olathe, Kan.; a grandson, Nikki Hurmence; and two granddaughters, Lauren and Jordan Farmer.
