Collins, Nona - 1917-2009

Graveside services for Nona Collins will be 11 a.m. today, April 13, at the McKeever Cemetery, rural Colfax. There is no visitation planned, at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Nona’s name are being designated and may be left at the Pence~Reese Funeral Home.
Nona Mae Collins, 91, the daughter of Clarence M. and Prudy P. (Owens) Patton, was born April 27, 1917, in St. Louis, Mo. She would attend public school in West Liberty.
On Aug. 4, 1939, Nona was united in marriage with Hartley V. Collins in Unionville, Mo. She and Hartley moved from Lucerne, Mo., to Colfax in 1951, and she to Newton in 1989.
Nona was employed as a factory worker for several years.
She had devoted her life to her family and friends, enjoying her grandchildren, gardening, attended R.S.V.P., and was of the Baptist faith.
Nona died Thursday evening, April 9, 2009, in the Monarch Wing at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hartley, in 1975; a sister Jennie L. Clark; and a brother, William S. Patton.
Those left to honor Nona’s memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. (Eloise) Collins of Lynnville, David W. (Myrna) Collins of Newton, Roger L. (Tina) Collins of Newton, Marion L. (Shirley) Collins of Newton and Lynda Collins of Newton; her daughters, Sara P. Cones of Newton and Sharon K. (Don) Samson of Newton; her 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great grandchildren; her brother, Earl L. (Wanda) Patton of Lucerne, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; and her many friends.
