Good, Mirian – 1911-2009

Mirian Good, 97, of Newton died today, April 2, at the Newton Health Care Center.
Services are pending at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton.

Miriam Leola Good, the daughter of Sherm Joseph and Dolly (Sumpter) Ferguson, was born August 6, 1911, near Mingo, Iowa. She graduated from the Mingo High School in 1929.
On January 20, 1930, Miriam was united in marriage with Joe Good in Newton, Iowa. Miriam had worked for the Skiff Hospital in the Dietary Department and also for the Jasper County Senior Citizens Center and for Congregate Meals. Miriam was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Jasper County Senior Citizens Center.
Miriam died on Thursday, April 02, 2009, at the Newton Healthcare Center. She was 97 years old. Miriam was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe, in March of 1968; her sisters Anna, Ada and Clara in infancy; and her brother Lloyd Ferguson.
Those left to honor Miriam's memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kristine Good of Newton; her grandsons, Tracy and Janet Good of Prairie City, Iowa and Larry Rustan, Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa; her great granddaughter, Melanie and Justin Etter and her great great grandson, Ellis Etter.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Colfax Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home after 3:00 p.m. Friday. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be designated to the Jasper County Senior Citizens Center and may be left at the funeral home.
