William Everett Pratt, 80, of Colfax died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Colfax United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m., with burial following at Colfax Cemetery.
Visitation for Bill will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2009, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Colfax United Methodist Church or the Colfax Senior Citizens Center, and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
A luncheon will be served following the burial on Monday.
The son of James and Selma (Soderholm) Pratt, Bill was born on Dec. 22, 1928, in Colfax. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1946. On Sept. 26, 1952, he was united in marriage to Mary Paynter in Des Moines. Bill worked at Maytag for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church U.A.W. Local 997, was active at the Colfax Senior Citizens Center and a member of the Jasper County I Club. Bill was an avid sports fan, especially the Hawkeyes and Vikings, even through good and bad seasons.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 56 years, Mary; his children, Jackie (Pat) Vaughan of Colfax, Jody Wilson of Newton, and James Pratt of Newton. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Joel Vaughan of North Liberty, Jared Vaughan of Des Moines, Mallory Wilson of North Liberty and Trent Pratt and Lexy Plumb of Newton. Bill was preceded in death by is parents, a brother, Bobby, and a grandson, Cory.
