MARSHALLTOWN — Lucile N. (Sherman) Dick, 89, of Marshalltown died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Glenwood Place in Marshalltown.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. Don Freeman of the United Presbyterian Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be in Sully Cemetery in Sully.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials to the United Presbyterian Church or Iowa Hospice may be left at the funeral home.
Lucile Dick was born June 11, 1919, in Sully, the daughter of William Raymond and Emma L. (Smith) Sherman.
On May 20, 1946, she married Roscoe D. Dick in Sully, Iowa.
Lucile graduated from Sully High School in 1937 and attended normal school at William Penn to earn her rural school teaching certificate in 1937.
She worked as a country school teacher for two years, worked as a bookkeeper for the Dennison and Partridge Lumberyard for five years. Later on, she worked at Younkers in Newton.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the United Presbyterian Campbell Circle.
She enjoyed sewing and photography and being a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Ranae (Jim) Flagan of Gladbrook and Elaine (Morris) Schuler of Albion; three grandchildren, Amy (Brent) De Koning of Newton, Ryan (Sarah) Fagan of Shawnee, Kan., and Kevin Fagan of Mission, Kan.; four great-grandchildren, Jennah and Dryden De Koning and Isaac and Adam Fagan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roscoe, in 2002.
