Lela (Frizzell) Reynolds, 97, of Baxter died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Baxter Health Care Center in Baxter.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ wit the Rev. Rollin Watters officiating.
The family will greet friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
Memorials to Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.
The daughter of Eli and Everna (Walker) Frizzell, Lela was born March 19, 1911, in Woodburn, Iowa. She was a graduate of Garden Grove High School in 1930, and on Sept. 27, 1930, Lela was united in marriage to William Austin Reynolds in Burlington.
Lela taught country school, was a homemaker and worked as a clerk at the Baxter Sale Barn for several years. She was a member of the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ and Happy Hour Club. Lela loved to dance, travel and enjoyed many family trips to Branson. She also had a large collection of cardinals and was known for her popcorn balls, which she handed out to trick or treaters.
She had lived in Woodburn and Garden Grove and had lived in Baxter for 70+ years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (Richard) Goodman of Baxter; five grandchildren, Jan (Gary) Chamberlain of Newton, Jill (Carroll) Simbro of Newton, Jody (Jeff) Meyers of Ames, Julie (Doug) Montrose of Naperville, Ill., and Joyce (Greg) Christianson of Baxter; 13 great-grandchildren, Kristopher (Tonia), Rachel, Brian (Tracy), Brenda, Sam, Madalyn, Alyssa, Haley, Ashley, Matthew, Zac (Felicia), Courtney and Cody; and seven great-great-grandchildren, Devin, Danika, Allison, Curran, Ryan, Sierra and Nieva.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Austin; eight brothers and sisters; and her special friend, Ken Bettis.
