Carroll V. Longren

Graveside rites for Carroll Vern Longren, 78, of Newton, a longtime former resident of Reasnor, were held today, Nov 6, at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

The Rev. J. Ronald Burnett, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church, conducted the services.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Memorials to Alzheimer's Research will be accepted.

Survivors include two sons, Larry G. of Newton and Roger L. of Waterford, Wis; five grandchildren; and a sister, Delia Butler of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, the former Virginia Warren, a daughter Sandy, and two sisters, Leila Formark and Velma Engle.

Mr. Longren, a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

A 37 year employee of the Maytag company, Mr. Longren retired in June, 1976, from the tool and die department.

The son of Vern D. and Pearl Chapman Longren, he was born August 20, 1917 in Newton and attended Newton schools.
