Donald D. Webster Sr., 83, of Mingo died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Newton Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Eldon Nolte officiating.
The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association or to the donor’s choice may be left at the funeral home.
The son of Floyd and Effie (Fuller) Webster, Donald was born May 4, 1925, in Greencastle, Iowa. He attended school in Greencastle, and on Aug. 2, 1953, he married Marion Venn in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Donald was a heavy equipment operator at Metro Landfill East for 18 years, retiring in 1987. Don was a gardener and jack of all trades and had lived in Mingo from 1955 to 2007.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Webster of Mingo, Iowa; one son, Donald Webster Jr. (JoAnn Shaffer) of Mitchellville, Iowa; two daughters, Victoria Burns of Mingo and Karla Clement of Newton; one step-son, Bob (Kathy) Pohlman of Hartford, Iowa; and seven grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) Hauschildt, Sara Burns, David Burns, Kelsie Young, Kendra Young, Joshua Webster and John Pohlman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Dwandine, Letha, and Marie; and a step-son, David.
