Death Claimed Mrs. Mary Kvasny December 31st
Mrs. Mary Kvasny, 80, a longtime resident of the Colfax community, died Wednesday afternoon, December 31st at her home near the city. Death was caused from pneumonia and complications.
Mrs. Kvasny was born June 13, 1879 in Polanka, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Josef and Terezia Neuwirth. She was united in marriage to Joseph Kvasny in 1899. The couple came to the United States in 1903, settling in Rices Landing, Pa., in 1905, they moved to Oskaloosa, Ia., and later settled near Colfax, where they have lived for the past 51 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons, Emanuel and Joseph of Colfax and one daughter, Mrs. John (Anne) Kysilko of Cadott, Wis. Seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends also mourn her death. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1934 and two children; both of whom died in infancy.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 Friday afternoon, January 2, 1959 from the Bumgardner Funeral Home with Rev. E. Harold Jackson, pastor of the Methodist church officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Geo. Rinker, soloist with Mrs. F. B. Evans the accompanist.
Bearers were Henry DeReus, F. W. Evans, Alex Lewis, Dale Main, Merle Montgomery and John Slatkoski.
Those on the flower committee were Mrs. Merle Montgomery and Mrs. Dale Main.
Burial was in the McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.
