Dorothy L. Richardson

Dorothy L. Richardson, 89, of Friendship Manor in Grinnell, died of complications from hip surgery, Thursday, Aug. 26, at Grinnell Regional Hospital.

Graveside services were held today at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg with the Rev. Duane Skidmore of the Killduff United Methodist Church officiating.

The Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arragments. Memorials to the Iowa Foundation For the Blind or Kellogg Historical Society will be accepted.

The daughter of Edward L. and Edna M. Stieglitz Antle, she was born Sept. 24, 1909, in Kellogg. She attended rural Jasper County schools, graduated from Kellogg High School and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She married Ralph Richardson March 23, 1934, on their farm near Kellogg.

Mrs. Richardson worked as a school teacher in rural Jasper County. Following her marriage she worked as a homemaker and farmed with her husband. She was a member of the Killduff United Methodist Church, WSCS, Richland Grange, Kellogg Garden Club, Home and Community Club, was a Sunday School superintedent and teacher and enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Earl and Mary of rural Killduff and Dale of Sterling, Ill.; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Clare Luse of Bentonville, Ark.; three grandchildren' three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Pete and Marilyn Schuler of Lynnville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three children. ~ Newton Daily News, Tuesday, August 31, 1999, p. 7A.
