Louise Nearmyer, 80, of Newton died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at the Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Chaplain Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center in Newton will officiate.
The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.
Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County or to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 111 may be left at the funeral home.
The daughter of Everett and Kathryn (Coffman) Blom, she was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Newton, where she lived all her life. Louise graduated from Newton High School in 1945, and on Dec. 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to Loren D. Nearmyer in Newton.
Louise worked for the Maytag Company for 44 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 111, Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary, ABWA, LL Club and Nazereth White Shrine.
Louise loved to be on the go with family, friends, work or hobbies. She especially enjoyed being with her family and the Sunday morning breakfast group at Midtown.
Survivors include her husband, Loren of Newton; a brother, Larry Blom of Newton; three sisters-in-law, Beverly Nearmyer of Newton, Ardelle Morgan of Altoona and Veralea (Dick) Buchanan of Newton; several nieces and nephews; and special family friends, the Ryther families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Dick Custard; and sister-in-law, Elouise Blom.
