KILLDUFF - Margaret A. Aikin Vasseau, 45, Ben F. Vasseau, 47, and Dianna M. Vasseau, 14, all of Killduff, died of injuries sustained in an airplane crash Friday evening, March 5, in the 600 block of South Eighth Avenue East, Newton.

Joint funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Newton First United Methodist Church.

The Rev. John Mooriach, pastor of the Killduff United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial for Mrs. Vasseau and Miss Vaseau will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Vasseau will be cremated following services.

Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton after noon Tuesday.

Memorials in their names will be accepted.

Mrs. Vasseau, a lifelong resident of the Reasnor and Killduff areas, is survived by two sons, David E. of Manson and Gary W. of Killduff; a daughter, Karen (Mrs. Pat) Pendroy of Monroe; her father, Kenneth Aikin of Reasnor; four brothers, James Aikin of Petaluma, Calif., Charles Aikin of Newton, Raymond Aikin of Colfax and Kendall Aikin of Reasnor; and four sisters, Mary (Mrs. Donald) McJunkins of Leola, Ark., Linda Hammock of Hot Springs, Ark., Dorothy (Mrs. Skip) Hitchcock of Colfax and Rita (Mrs. Chuck) Maston Jr. of Killduff.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Aikin.

Mrs. Vasseau, co-owner of Van Gilst Roofing Inc. of Killduff, had been a home health aide through Skiff Medical Center.

The daughter of Kenneth and Anna Stanton Aikin, she was born May 27, 1947 in rural Reasnor and was a 1965 graduate of Monroe Commmunity High School.

She was married to Ben F. Vasseau Sept. 17 1965 in rural Leola, Ark.

Mr. Vasseau, a resident of the Reasnor and Killduff areas since 1966 and former resident of Arkansas, is survived by two sons, David E. of Manson and Gary W. of Killduff, a daughter, Karen (Mrs. Pat) Pendroy of Monroe; and his mother, Nelle Mae Vasseau of Royal, Ark.

Also surviving are seven brothers, Johnnie, Balard and Eddie, all of Royal, Ark. Jim of Pearcy, Ark., James of Killduff, Charles of Bismarck, Ark., and Dennis of Goodville, Tenn; and five sisters, Tilly Manning of Hot Springs, Ark.; Alta Powell and Esther Grenon of Royal, Arl, and Virginia LeJune and Adonna Crosby, both of Pearcy, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Vasseau.

Mr. Vasseau, a member of the Killduff Park Board, was a roofer and co-owner of Van Gilst Roofing, Inc. of Killduff.

The son of Steve "John" and Nelle Mae Vasseau, he was born July 31, 1945 in Arkansas and attended rural schools in Arkansas.

He was married to Margaret A. Aikin Sept 17, 1965 in rural Leola, Ark.

Miss Vasseau, a lifelong resident of Killduff, is survived by two brothers, David E. of Manson and Gary W. of Killduff, a sister, Karen (Mrs. Pat) Pendroy of Monroe; her paternal grandmother, Nella Mae Vasseau of Royal, Ark., her maternal grandfather, Kenneth Aikin of Reasnor, and many aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Steve "John" Vasseau and maternal grandmother, Anna Stanton, Aikin.

The daughter of Ben F. and Margaret A. Aikin Vasseau, she was born April 18, 1978 at Grinnell and was an eighth grade student at Lynnville-Sully Community Middle School. ~ Newton (IA) Daily News, March 8, 1993.
