Virginia M. Y. Adams, 78, died on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A memorial service was Thursday, Feb. 5, at 3:30 p.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
Burial was held at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.
In lieu of flowers, Virginia’s family request memorials in her name. The memorials may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
Her survivors include her son, Michael York (Anita) Adams of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Emily Louise Adams and Ross Michael Adams; her brother, Ron (Beverly) Yockey of Sandwich, Ill.; sister, Rene Walker of Newton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to honor Virginia's memory are his son, Michael York (Anita) Adams of Chattanooga, TN; 2 grandchildren, Emily Louise Adams and Ross Michael Adams; her brother, Ron (Beverly) Yockey of Sandwich, IL; sister, Rene Walker of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd A. and Evelyn Louise (Ferdig) Yockey.

Virginia gradauted from Leeds High School in 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa. She worked for several years for Progress Industries in Newton, retiring in 1998.

She loved being with her family and friends, she enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes, gardening, and antiquing. Virginia truly enjoyed taking care of others.
