Des Moines — Margaret Strong, 47, of Des Moines, formerly of Newton, died on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.

Those left to honor Margaret's memory are her son, Michael (Kristen) Heck of Newton; 3 grandchildren, Ashley and Stacey Sparks of Lynnville and Erica Bailey of Newton; her sister, Linda (Fred) Knapp of Des Moines; 4 brothers, Dale Smithhart, Cleo (Cheryl)Smiththart, Buddy Smithhart, and Richard (Julie) Smithhart, all of Des Moines; and her special friend, Earl "Duke" Thompson of Des Moines. he was preceded in death by her parents, Milas and Violet (Peters) Smithhart and 2 brothers, James Ramer and Harley Wilson. Margaret enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, going to flea markets, and doing beadwork. Memorials in Margaret's name may be left at the funeral home.
