Baxter — Lois D. (Bach) Jontz, 85, of Baxter died on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Services are pending at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.

Memorial Service: 2:00 P.M., Sunday December 14, 2008 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter.
Those left to honor Lois's memory include her 2 sons, Glen (Bonnie) Jontz of Baxter and Charlie (Janine) Jontz of Urbandale, IA; 2 daughters, Saundra (Jim) Elliott of Lake Geneva, WI and Glenna Jontz of Newton; her 6 grandchildren: Kellie (Jeff) Elliott-Kapparos of Marion, IA, Monica Elliott of Chicago, IL, Jeff (Chris) Jontz of Bondurant, IA, Jace (Kim) Jontz of Sun Prairie, WI, Tanner Jontz of Ankeny, IA, and Kelsi Jontz of Urbandale; 6 great-grandchildren: Chloe and Aidan Kapparos, and Brennan, Haley, Hunter and Grant Jontz; and her sister, Shirley Atwood of Waukee, IA.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Martha (Goecke) Bach; husband, Charles E. Jontz, in 2007; and her sister, Lorraine Breer.
Lois was a graduate of Baxter High School. She was a lifelong resident of Baxter. She worked as a secretary for Doane Insurance Company in Newton until the office closed.
Lois enjoyed reading, being with her family and friends, and watching movies. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter, the Ever Ready club, and the Tuesday morning coffee club.
Lois's family will greet friends following the service with coffee time at the church. Memorials may be left in Lois's name to be used for community projects.
