Mike Harrison, 56, of Newton died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at his home.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held.
Memorials to the Central Iowa Outdoor Without Limits may be left at the funeral home.
Michael David “Mike” Harrison, the son of C. Fred Harrison and Patricia (Clemens) Harrison was born July 19, 1952, in Ames. He graduated from Newton schools in 1970. Mike served as a Seabee in the Navy from September 1970 to September 1974, when he moved back to Newton. Mike was united in marriage to Pam (Frick) Bozarth on July 7, 1990. Between them their families had four children, Dotty, Lacy, Brett and Joshua.
Mike worked for the Post Office as a letter carrier from May 1976 until July 2007 when he retired. In his retirement years he worked part-time at PDP. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and spending time with his family, especially with his five grandchildren. He enjoyed his annual trips to Topeka, Kan., for drag races and Baudette, Minn., to fish for his beloved walleye.
Those left to honor Mike’s memory are his wife, Pam; daughters, Dotty (Joel) Sudbrock and Lacy Lane; sons, Brett (Lacey) Bozarth and Joshua Bozarth; his sister, Janet (Jim) Rader; grandchildren, Dallis Harrison, Danielle Hobbs, Denver and Jacob Sudbrock and Landon Bozarth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rick; and his grandparents.
