W.C. BRODERSEN RITES THURSDAY

MONROE -- Funeral services for W.C. (Wilbur) Brodersen, 59, of Monroe, a resident of Monroe since 1940 and lifelong resident of Jasper County, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Monroe Methodist Church.

The Rev. Warren McFate, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery at Monroe.

Friends may call at the Johnson Funeral home in Newton after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Survivors are his wife, Dessie; a son, W. Dean Brodersen of Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Donna) Barr of Prairie City and Mrs. Melvin (Reita) Grimstad of Covina, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and a brother, Byron Brodersen of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Brodersen was a member of the Monroe United Presbyterian Church, Newton Elks Club, Fairview Masonic Lodge No. 194 of the Monroe Masons, Izaak Walton League of Newton, Iowa Independant Oil Dealers, Des Moines Oilsmen Club and Monroe Commercial Club.

Mr. Brodersen, a jobber for Standard Oil for 13 years, had been employed by Standard for 30 years.

The son of Elmer and Mamie Dale Mick Brodersen, he was born July 26, 1911, near Reasnor and attended rural Jasper County schools and was a 1929 graduate of Newton High School.

He was married to Dessie Ramer Feb. 2, 1933, in Lancaster, Mo.

Mr. Brodersen died Monday morning while at work in Monroe.
