IN MEMORY OF DUANE ROLLIS RUCKMAN

Duane Rollis Ruckman, 74, of Colfax, formerly of Monroe, died of cancer, Thursday, June 20, 1996 at home. He was born May 22, 1922 in Red Rock, Marion County, Iowa. He was the son of Zaccheus A. and Bertha M. Love Ruckman. He enlisted in the United (something omitted?) discharged in
January, 1946. He also served in the Iowa National Guard for several years, receiving an honorable discharge. He was a mechanic and a truck driver, later working for the Maytag Company in Newton for 22 years. He moved to Monroe in 1954. He was married to Iona Holmes in 1948 in Monroe. He was a member of the American Legion, Veteran's of Foreign Wars, the National Rifle Association, and an honorary member of the Iowa State Sheriffs and Deputies Association. He was one of the original board members of the Marion County Historical Society. He was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Terry Duane, a grandson Zaccheus Eggert, and 2 sisters: Ruby Love Ruckman and Florence Ruckman O'Melia. Survivors include 2 daughters: Sandra Mendenhall (Mrs. Ray) and Susan Eggert (Mrs. Terry), both of Colfax, 4 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 2 great granddaughters, 2 great grandsons and 2 sisters: Fay DeHeer and Mabel Victory, both of Knoxville.

Burial at Dunreath Cemetery S.W. of Monroe.
