Fuller, Joseph DeNeen - 1938-2008

MELBOURNE — Joseph D. Fuller, 70, of Melbourne, formerly of Marshalltown died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. After a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer since March 2005 he is now in heaven with his Lord and Savior.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Evangelical Free Church in Marshalltown, 3111 S. Sixth Street. He will be laid to rest in Restland Cemetery in Baxter with military honors conducted by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post 839. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home. Born Joseph DeNeen Fuller on Oct. 28, 1938, in Bloomfield. He was the son of Clarence and Mattie (York) Fuller.
Joe graduated from Lake Park High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from May 1961 to 1964.
On Aug. 17, 1961, he was united in marriage to Linda Sabin in Ft. Riley, Kan. The couple made Marshalltown their home where they both worked at Fisher Controls until retiring in 1999 and 2002, respectively.
Joseph enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, especially at Christmas. He also enjoyed Marshalltown Street Rods, Evangelical Free Church, ‘50's music, fishing, boating and golfing.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda; his two sons, Gene (Pam) Fuller of Marshalltown and Mike (Shelly) Fuller of Melbourne; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Rick) Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Brady Fuller, Joshua Fuller and Haley Fuller; three great-grandchildren, Dominic Johnson, Isabella Johnson and Attison Fuller; his brothers and sisters, Chuck (Shirley) Fuller of Spirit Lake, Gari (Betty) Fuller of Ferguson, Charlene (Homer) Pate of Houston, Texas, Dee (Hod) Johnson of Beemer, Neb., and Sue (John) Dunlap of West Des Moines; two sisters-in-law, Leone Jorstad of Hendricks, Minn., and Gini Mayo of Davenport; his mother-in-law, Lorene Sabin of Baxter; and a host of many cousins and friends.
In death he rejoined his parents; brothers, Dean and Bob; and his sister, Karen.
The family would like to send a special thank-you to the Mary Greeley Hospital Staff, Marshalltown Dialysis Center Staff and Dr. Merchant and Dr. Alexander.
