Ryther, James M. ‘Jim’ – 1954-2008

Jim Ryther, 54, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at the Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church, 1000 E. 12th St. S. in Newton, conducted by Chaplain Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
A burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be left in Jim’s name or to Hospice of Jasper County. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service.
Arrangements are being handled by the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Kate of Newton; one son, Chris Ryther (Amy and her children, Garrett and Lindsay); two daughters, Brandy Ryther and Holly Ryther, both of Newton; 10 grandchildren, Elaini, C.J., Rhiannon, Krisondra, Madison, Sadie, Greg, Derek, Ronnah and Dylan; his mother, Bonnie Ryther of Newton; two brothers, Gary (Vicki) Ryther of Newton and Chuck (Tammy) Ryther of Marion; two sisters, Connie (Dale) Raridon and Melody Dawson, all of Newton; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, “grandparents,” Loren and Louise Nearmyer and many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Wayne in 1990; and a brother, Douglas in infancy.
