Glendora Proctor, 90, of Newton, formerly of Des Moines, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services were today, Monday, Sept. 22, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Glendora was born Aug. 9, 1918, in Story County, to Guy and Cornelia Rod. She was a trust officer with Brenton Bank for over 25 years before her retirement in 1983 and a member of Central Lutheran/Capitol Hill Lutheran Church in Des Moines and First Lutheran Church in Newton. Glendora loved celebrating Christmas Eve.
Glendora is survived by her sons, Richard (Jil) Proctor of Johnston and Bruce (Jeannine) Proctor of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Jean Cleere of Newton; seven grandchildren, Rhonda (Jim) McCleary, Sara and Aaron Hobbs, Todd (Tammy) Blair, Cherie (Jason) Morey, Scott and Jeff Cleere; nine great-grandchildren, Stefan, Rebekah, Tatum, Hannah, Emily, Jamie, James, Matt and Stephanie; her sisters, Myrle Shaw and Helen (Ed) Heusinkveld; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Myron Rod; son-in-law, Jim Cleere; and husband, Lester.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Park Centre in Newton.
