Alfred Waterman

BAXTER - Alfred Waterman, 84, of Baxter died Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Marshalltown Surgical and Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bethany United Church of Christ, east of Baxter.

The Rev. Marie Paterik, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Tom Carpe, interim pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ, will conduct services. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery.

Memorials to the family will be accepted.

Friends may call at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter after 2 p.m. Friday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Lorena; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother in infancy and a brother, Ivan.

Mr. Waterman, a farmer, also had been a heavy equipment operator.

He was a member of the Bethany United Church of Christ, Farm Bureau and Antique Power Association.

The son of August W. and Clara Sanderman Waterman, he was born Sept. 5, 1908 in Logan Township in Marshall County.

He was married to Lorena Hatch Oct. 14, 1936 in Baxter. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1992
