George W. Wade, 87, a long time resident of Newton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at the VA Central Iowa Hospice in Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Anna Stewart Wade of Colfax; five brothers; five sisters; and an infant granddaughter.

George is survived by his wife, Earlene, of 58 years and their four children; Craig (Eve) Wade of Newton, Regan (Joan) Wade of Baxter, Cheryl (David) Nida of Des Moines, Rhonda (Jeff) Smith of Oskaloosa; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Foxi.

George proudly served his country with the 41st Infantry Division during World War II, in the Pacific Theatre from 1941 to 1945. He was employed by the Winpower Company for 32 years and attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Newton.

Family visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. and the funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, both at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
