DES MOINES — Susie Mae (Baker) Thomas, 83, of Des Moines, formerly of Newton died July 29, 2007, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines from cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3600 75th Street, Urbandale. Burial will occur at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Susie was born June 9, 1924, to Daniel and Lizzie Baker in De Soto. She married Harold Thomas on April 4, 1947, and worked in dietary for 30 years at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Susie was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women.

Susie is survived by her husband, Harold; one daughter, Carol Thomas of Urbandale; two sisters, Sarah Parkinson of Colorado and Luete (Robert) Baker of Ohio; and many other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Joseph (Bernice), John (Margory), Martin, Robert (Deloris), and Curtis (Libby), all Baker; five sisters, Mary, Nellie (Fred) Prohaska, Dorothy (Eugene) Marquardt, Betty, and Madilene (Harold) Mathews; and one granddaughter, Danielle Rae Thomas.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
