PRAIRIE CITY — Cornelia “Cora” Sneller, 88, of Prairie City died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Skiff Medical Center Monarch Wing in Newton. Funeral services for Mrs. Sneller were today at 1:30 p.m. at the Prairie City First Reformed Church with burial at Waveland Cemetery of Prairie City. Memorials may be given to Prairie City First Reformed Church or Hospice of Jasper County.

The daughter of Arie and Artje (De Jongh) Van Weelden, Cora was born on March 4, 1919, at Herwijnen, Netherlands. On Feb. 2, 1939, Cora was united in marriage with Ryk Sneller at Prairie City. Cora spent her life as a devoted homemaker. Cora was a talented afghan maker and had made over 100 for her children and grandchildren to enjoy. She was also a member of the Prairie City First Reformed Church.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, Jerald Sneller and his wife Elizabeth of Millington, Tenn., Arvin Sneller and his wife Harriet of Prairie City, Darlene Harmison of Colfax, Melvin Sneller of Prairie City, Caren Hoagland of Newton, Elaine Keller of Monroe, and Darla Wing and her husband Darrell of Colfax; one sister, Stella Blommers of Pella; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six brothers, Henry Van Weelden, Guysbert Van Weelden, Cornie Van Weelden, Arthur Van Weelden, Dick Van Weelden and Arie Van Weelden; and one sister; Ella Klyn.
