Mabel A. Probasco, 86, of Newton died Aug. 12, 2007, at the USA Healthcare in Newton.

Funeral services were this morning at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Chaplain Merle Smith of the Skiff Medical Center in Newton officiating. Burial was at the Hardin Cemetery in Moulton.

Memorials to the First United Methodist Church in Newton may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of George Otto and Hazel May (Grim) Bowling, she was born Jan. 31, 1921, in Davis County and has lived in Newton since 1952. She was united in marriage with Kenneth O. Probasco on Dec. 24, 1939, in Lancaster, Mo.

She was a graduate of the Davis County High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton, where she was active in Sunday school, Circle and the Church Choir. She was also a member of the Jasper County Chorus. She liked going to church, singing and camping.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Gary) Osborn of Newton; two sons, Gene Probasco of Phoenix, Ariz., and Steve Probasco of Ankeny; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Herb (Dixie) Bowling of Georgetown, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth in 1983; one son, Paul Probasco; and one brother, Walter Louis Bowling.
