Jim Terlouw

LYNNVILLE - Funeral services for Jim Terlouw, 72, of 12139 S. 60th Ave. E., Lynnville, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, were held today, Jan. 9, at the Lynnville Friends Church.

The Rev. Marvin Miller, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Ralph Menning of Pella, a retired pastor, conducted services.

Burial was in the Friends Cemetery in Lynnville.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

He died Friday morning at Skiff Medical Center of complications from a stroke.

Survivors are his wife, Donna; four sons, Daryl of Newton, David of Benson, Minn., Dennis of Lynnville and Douglas of Sully; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Gerritt of Sully, Harry Jr. of Lynnville and Robert of Kellogg; and two sisters, Marie Terlouw and Jennie Terlouw, both of Sully.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ollie.

Mr. Terlouw, a member of the Lynnville Friends Church and a life member of the Galesburg Gun Club, farmed north of Sully and was a security guard at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co., and the Pella Corp.

The son of Henry and Alice Nikkel Terlouw, he was born June 1, 1922 in Sully and attended the Sudlow Country School.

He was married to Donna Leafgreen Oct. 28, 1945 in Lynnville. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, January 1995
