C. L. Snodgrass Dies on Sunday; Rites Wednesday

Clifford Lyle Snodgrass, 52, of 109 Country Club Acres, a longtime resident of Newton, died Sunday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Veterans Section of Newton Union Cemetery.

There will be a flag presentation by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1655.

Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Survivors are his wife, Betty; two sons, Kevin and Kyle, both at home; a daughter, Vicki Abel of Newton; a grandson, Travis Abel of Newton; and his mother, Mrs. Lucille R. Snodgrass of Grinnell.

Also surviving are two brothers, Donovan of Sully and Ronnie of Newton; and three sisters, Mrs. Paul (Marceil) Sieck of Grinnell, Joyce Johnson of Newton and Phyllis Snodgrass of Philadelphia, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Snodgrass, a trucker, was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

The son of Carroll C. and Lucille R. Altemeier Snodgrass, he was born Dec. 3, 1925 at Newton.

He was married to Betty Dickerson Oct. 7, 1961 in Newton.

The family will be at the Maxine Hobbs home residence at 315 Country Club Acres. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1978
