PRAIRIE CITY - Memorial services for Conrad Samson, 72, of rural Prairie City, a longtime resident of Jasper County, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. Jerry Harris, pastor of the Colfax First Baptist Church, will conduct services.

Cremation has been held.

Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa may be left at the funeral home.

Mr. Samson died Sunday at the home of a friend in Des Moines.

Survivors are three daughters, Connie Baker of Phoenix, Ariz., Glenda Robson of Ottawa, Ill., and Sonja Miller of Greenfield; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Jacob of Prairie City; and a sister, Joan La Favre of Commerce City, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marie.

Mr. Samson, a farmer, also was a pressman at The Newton Daily News for several years and for the Des Moines Register for many years prior to his retirement.

The son of Gerritt and Johanna Vander Veer Samson, he was born May 26, 1918 at Honey Ford, N.D. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, May 1991
