KELLOGG - Funeral services for C. Oakley Sharp, 83, of Rt. 1, Kellogg, were held today, July 5, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

The Rev. Lyle Johnston, pastor of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, conducted services. Burial was in our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Memorials to the Pleasant View United Methodist Church may be left funeral home.

Mr. Sharp died Sunday, July 1, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

He is survived by a brother, Otto Sharp, of Kellogg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, Donald, Clarence, Maxwell and Venice, and a sister, Florence.

Mr. Sharp operated a family grain and livestock farm.

He was a member of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church and the Jasper County Farm Bureau.

The son of Frank and Mary Doak Sharp, he was born Oct. 30, 1906 near Kellogg and was educated in rural schools in Richland Township.

He was married to Emma Louise Dilts Oct. 4, 1939 in Montezuma. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1990
