MARENGO - Funeral services for Emma Schmid, 97, of Marengo, mother of Theola Groves of Newton, were held Monday, March 12, at St. Mary's Church in Sigourney.

Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney.

She died Thursday at Rose Haven Care Center in Marengo.

Also surviving are two other daughters, seven grandchildren, including Leland Groves and Cheryl (Mrs. Richard) Moredock, both of Newton; and 15 great-grandchildren. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, March 1990
