Ruth Laird

Ruth Mayer Laird, 98, formerly of 718 E. 5th St. N., died Thursday evening, Sept. 12, at the Newton Health Care Center.

Friends may call until 7 p.m. today at the Reese funeral Home.

Private burial of ashes will be held at a later date.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Laird was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph J., in 1978, two brothers and five sisters.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

The daughter of Christian and Mary Mayer, she was born march 7, 1893 in Denver, Mo.

She attended schools in Missouri and Illinois and the Iowa business College in Des Moines.

She resided in Reasnor from 1932 until 1955 when she moved to Newton.

She was married to Ralph J. Laird Aug. 24, 1932 at Galenten, Mo. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 1991
