PRAIRIE CITY - Rhea Williams, 83, a lifelong resident of Prairie City, died Sunday, May 1, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

PRAIRIE CITY - private funeral services for Rhea Helen Myers Williams, 83, a longtime resident of Prairie City, will be conducted.

The Rev. Marshall Myers, retired Knoxville pastor, will conduct services.

Friends may call after noon today, May 3, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to Iowa Public Television may be left at the funeral home.

Mrs. Williams died Sunday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Survivors are two daughters, Donna Elizabeth (Mrs. Robert) Mann of Des Moines and Nancy DeAnn Nelson of Clermont; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Also surviving are two brothers, Merle Myers of Prairie City and Lewis Myers of Des Moines, and five sisters, Georgia (Mrs. Tom) Kenworthy of Miami, Fla., Myrtle Evans of Topeka, Kan., Myna Shockley of Shreveport, La., Hazel Romick of Pella and Marianne Thompson of West Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John W., two sisters, Claudia Florer and Caroline Davidson Dyer, and two brothers, Marion and Edward Myers.

Mrs. Williams was secretary/bookkeeper at the Prairie City Concrete Co., for 35 years, retiring in 1985.

Mrs. Williams was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church and the Prairie City Senior Citizens.

The daughter of Marion L. and Helen M. Porter Myers, she was born May 4, 1910 in Harvey.

She was a graduate of Prairie City Community High School.

She was married to John W. Williams Nov. 20, 1934. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, May 1994.
