Marilyn Van De Voort

PELLA - Marilyn Jean Renaud Van De Voort, 53, of Pella, a native and former resident of the Sully community, died Friday, Nov. 26, at her home east of Pella.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Pella Third Reformed Church.

The Rev. Kevin E. Korver will conduct services.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Friends may call at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella today and visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to Hospice of Pella will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, Arie; four sons and daughters-in-law, Verlan and Connie, Jim and Kim, Dan and Suzy and David and Michelle, all of Pella; her mother, Norma D. Renaud of Sully; and six grandchildren.

Also surviving are four brothers, Larry D. Renaud of Sully, Jerry L. Renaud of Grinnell, Isaac W. Renaud of Showlow, Ariz., and Randall D. Renaud of Grinnell; and two sisters, Carolyn S. (Mrs. Thomas) Durr of Colo and Marlys K. (Mrs. Rick) Hagen of Anchorage, Alaska.

Mrs. Van De Voort was preceded in death by her father March 31, 1967.

She was a member of the Pella Third Reformed Church, for which she taught Sunday school and assisted with many women-related activities. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and nature walks.

The daughter of Deverne Leo and Norma Darlene Roorda Renaud, she was born Oct. 4, 1940 south of Sully.

She attended the Ironclad School in Lynn Grove Township, the Lynnville Consolidated Grade School and was graduated from Grinnell Country Grade School in 1954.

She was a 1958 graduate of Sully Community high School.

She was married to Arie Van De Voort Jr. Oct. 27, 1959 at the home of her parents south of Sully.

They resided south of Sully for six years during which time Mrs. Van De Voort was employed at the Vernon Co. in Newton.

Later they moved to an acreage east of Pella and Mrs. Van De Voort was employed at Hawkeye Hybrids from 1984 until her health failed. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1993
