Marianne Deeter, 77, of Rock Creek West, Kellogg, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton with Father Ernie Braida officiating. Burial will be at Rock Creek Cemetery at Rock Creek Lake near Kellogg. The family will greet friends on Monday at the church from 6 to 7 p.m., and a public vigil service will be held. A coffee time at the church will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The daughter of Dewey and Gaynelle (Kurtz) Jacobson, Marianne was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Marshalltown. She lived in Newton and Altoona prior to moving to Rick Creek West in 1992. She was an artist who worked in pastels and also enjoyed doing needlework. She worked in housekeeping and maintenance for 14 years at the Newton Inn in Newton and several years at the Country Inn in Altoona until her retirement in 1992.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by two sons, Scott Deeter of Rock Creek West, Kellogg, and Todd Deeter of Baxter; four daughters, including Cindy (Leon) Nazworthy of St. Charles, Kathy (Derek) Preminger of Humeston and Tina M. (Danny) Ehler of Kellogg; 12 grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Charlene) Jacobson of Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Connie Geedres.
